Google Chrome is a relative newcomer to the browser landscape, a beta version having been released for Microsoft Windows XP (and later) September 2, 2008. A stable version was released on December 11, 2008.

As of this writing, it is the third most popular browser. Google announced on May 25, 2010 that Google Chrome 5.0 supports Mac OS X and Linux as well as Windows.
