Windows 7 Taskbar Navigation Among Application Icons |
|
|
In Windows 7, application icons can be pinned to the Taskbar for easy opening. In addition, when an application which is not already pinned to the Taskbar is opened during a session for the first time, its icon appears on the the left side of the Taskbar. Below is an example of the left side of the Windows 7 Taskbar. Note that the icons are directly to the right of the Start button. |

The Windows 7 interface provides a simple shortcut method for opening these applications, or, if the application is already open, to activate the last active window of the application. First, note the numerical order of the icons as illustrated below.

By holding down the Windows Key and pressing the corresponding number, the application is opened, or, activated and brought to the front if it is already open. For applications with multiple documents open, and therefore multiple thumbnells appear, continue holding down the Windows key and pressing the corresponding number to cycle through them until you find the one you want. |

A neat trick, but note that it only works with the first 10 icons (use "0" for the tenth icon). |
